David de Gea‘s injury is likely to rule him out of Manchester United’s game against Hull City this weekend and Victor Valdes could therefore be given his full debut for the club.

The Telegraph’s Mark Ogden reports that De Gea is struggling to recover from a hamstring injury, so Louis van Gaal is considering turning to Valdes for the final game of the Premier League season.

De Gea had to be taken off in the latter stages against Arsenal and Valdes was thrown on for his club debut but at this stage he is still yet to start a game for the senior side.

In the build-up to the game, there were some United fans who wanted De Gea to be dropped for Valdes, regardless of his fitness,  in order for him to get settled own in life at the club.

As it turned out, his injury made Van Gaal’s decision straight forward but the cynical eye who watched that game will wonder if De Gea did have an injury at all or whether he was simply given a standing ovation to let ans say goodbye to him.
