Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars: Jasper Cillessen is not for sale

Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars has insisted keeper Jasper Cillessen is not for sale amid speculation that Manchester United are interested in signing him.

With David de Gea looking increasingly likely to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season, Man United have been considering replacements for the Spaniard.

Hugo Lloris and Petr Cech have both been linked with moves to United and reports this week suggested Cillessen was also being looked at.

However, Ajax have stated that Cillessen will not be sold even if United offer them a huge sum of money for his services.

Speaking about the situation, Overmars said: “Jasper is not for sale, not even for €25 million.”

Daley Blind made the move from Ajax to United last summer and it would be unlikely that the Dutch side would sell one of their best players to them again two years running.

In any case, United have a ready made replacement for De Gea in the form of Victor Valdes. The 33-year-old is one of the most decorated players of all-time and undoubtedly retains the ability to make an impact in a United shirt despite the limited amount of opportunities he has had this term.
