Manchester United complete two deals in swift start to transfer season and more expected

The season isn’t even over yet but Manchester United have already been very busy in the transfer market. Here’s the latest update on how it has gone so far.

First things first, Memphis Depay has passed his medical and a deal has already been agreed with PSV. So, the only thing left to do is wait until the transfer window officially opens before the deal can be officially completed. Registration opens on July 1.

That’s one exciting transfer already wrapped up which is fantastic given that moves for players of Depay’s ilk have, in general, ended in heartache for United fans after a long, drawn out transfer saga. It’s refreshing to see a deal being agreed upon so early.

Another deal was confirmed today, this time for 16-year-old Belgian keeper Ilias Moutha-Sebatoui. He has signed a three-year deal and becomes the second signing of the summer window.

Moving forward, Andy Mitten reports that two signings are ready and waiting for Louis van Gaal to give the go ahead: “New players will be bought — two are ready to go as soon as the manager says so.”

If true, who could they be? Ilkay Gundogan, Mats Hummels, Gareth Bale, Paul Pogba and a host of other players have been linked. At this stage, nothing but speculation surrounds them all.

It’s great to see United moving early in the transfer window again having had two seasons of sloppy transfer deadline day scrambles and hopefully by the time the pre-season kicks off, all our new players will already be at the club.
