Juventus win Coppa Italia leaving Patrice Evra on the verge of winning the treble

Patrice Evra is on the verge of history after lifting the Coppa Italia with Juventus last night as he is now only one victory away from winning the treble this season with Juventus.

Barcelona stand in the Frenchman’s way of achieving domestic football’s greatest accolade and from a Manchester United fans’ perspective, it’s absolutely wonderful to see Evra enjoying success with Juventus.

The 34-year-old was such a great player for Man United and a key member of the 2007/8 Premier League and UEFA Champions League double winning squad.

Now he has the opportunity to join the great 1999 Man United squad in the history books by winning a treble.

It’s going to be a particularly interesting final for Evra and team-mate Giorgio Chiellini because they will come up against Barcelona’s Luis Suarez.

Evra was racially abused by Suarez who was subsequently found guilty and banned, while Chiellini was bitten by Suarez at the World Cup and was then banned following an enquiry.

United fans will certainly be rooting for Juventus and Evra to lift the Champions League when they meet on June 6. Go on Paddy, score another scorcher.
