Louis van Gaal has indicated he will put out a strong starting XI this weekend against Hull City.
There had been suggestions among fans that the game would be a great time to give youngsters like Adnan Januzaj and James Wilson a rare start in the Premier League given they haven’t had many opportunities this season.
However, Van Gaal believes United have a duty to put out their strong team regardless of the game being irrelevant in terms of the result.
“I have to put my strongest team because we have to give everything for all the other Premier League clubs, and especially of course Newcastle United,” Van Gaal said.
“We have taken six points off Newcastle United and we have to take six points off Hull City, I think. I have said to the players in spite of him [Steve Bruce] being a Manchester United guy, we have to do what everybody is expecting from us.”
Of course, Van Gaal could give games to Wilson and/or Januzaj and still have a very strong starting XI by using more senior players around him, so fans will still be hoping to see some younger players given a chance.
Last year on the last day of the season Ryan Giggs gave Wilson his senior debut and he took full advantage of it by scoring two goals, so it can certainly prove to be a great experience for a player if it works out.
