Brazilian right-back Dani Alves is close to agreeing a three-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
Alves will be available as a free agent at the end of the campaign having failed to negotiate a new contract with Barcelona.
Manchester United were said to be interested in Dani Alves as a replacement for Rafael but it appears PSG have beat them to the punch.
The news will come as a blow to Louis van Gaal, particularly as Nathaniel Clyne looks likely to sign a new deal at Southampton.
However, Alves may not have been the shrewdest buy as he is not getting any younger. A world-class player in his heyday, the 32-year-old’s best years are now behind him.
It is not immediately clear who United may go for if Alves and Clyne both decide to reject the club’s advances.
There have been a few rumours that van Gaal is considering bringing in Torino’s Matteo Darmian but there has been nothing concrete as of yet.
