Sean Goss wishes Tom Thorpe ‘all the best’ in potential farewell message

Manchester United’s U21s captain Tom Thorpe may well have played his last game for the club today.

Sean Goss wished his team-mate ‘all the best’ in what looked like a farewell message to the 22-year-old who so many feel has been wrongly overlooked by Man United’s management.

Thorpe led United’s U21s out today to a Guard of Honour given to them by Manchester City having already wrapped up the U21s Premier League title last week but unfortunately was unable to stop City winning 3-1.

There is every chance Thorpe will leave the club this summer given a lack of progression into the first-team and Goss’ comments certainly indicate that will be the case.

Thorpe was United’s captain for the 2011 FA Youth Cup team which boasted the likes of Paul Pogba and Ravel Morrison but has since been given almost no opportunity to make the step up to senior football.

Those who watched Thorpe over the years are frustrated with how he has been managed by United as the likes of Paddy McNair and Tyler Blackett were both behind him in terms of quality before being given their chances.

At 22, first-team football is now Thorpe’s priority to help him progress in his career and it doesn’t look very likely that he’ll be doing that at United.
