Louis van Gaal confirms Wayne Rooney is available for Hull City clash

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has confirmed Wayne Rooney is available to face Hull City on Sunday.

Rooney has been sidelined since picking up an injury in the 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace earlier this month.

In his absence, Radamel Falcao started against Arsenal last weekend but struggled to create any meaningful opportunities.

Speaking about Rooney’s return, van Gaal said: ”Wayne is available, he is captain so he shall play.”

Rooney isn’t the kind of player to miss a game unless absolutely necessary so it was always likely that he would return in what is United’s final game of the campaign.

Although there is nothing riding on the match for United, he will still want to finish the season strongly.

Meanwhile, Hull must win the game in order to avoid relegation. Many United fans would not like to see Steve Bruce’s side go down given his years of loyal service to the club in his playing days but van Gaal indicated he will play his strongest side ahead of the clash.
