Louis van Gaal confirms Radamel Falcao talks will happen on Monday

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has revealed he will speak to Radamel Falcao about his future on Monday.

Widespread reports on Sunday afternoon suggested Man United have already told the Colombian they will let him go in the summer.

The news will come as no surprise to United fans as Falcao simply hasn’t been good enough this season.

Van Gaal confirmed that he will talk to the 29-year-old but refused to say whether or not he will leave:

A preliminary £43.2m deal was agreed earlier this season for Falcao, came to United with a reputation as one of the world’s best strikers but he hasn’t showcased that ability at any point this term.

It would be a shame to lose him given his first-class attitude off the pitch but there can be no room for sentiment as United prepare for Champions League football.

Unfortunately, Falcao will not provide the goals that United need if they are to be a success. Speculation will inevitably turn to potential replacements, with players such as Edinson Cavani linked with moves to Old Trafford in recent weeks.
