Victor Valdes reveals pride at representing Manchester United

Manchester United keeper Victor Valdes has thanked fans for their support after making his full debut in the 0-0 draw against Hull City on Sunday.

Valdes looked nervous during the opening exchanges but he eventually pulled off a string of superb saves to secure Man United a point in the final game of the season.

With David de Gea’s future far from certain, Valdes may well end up as the club’s no.1 next term.

The 33-year-old thanked supporters and revealed his pride at representing United:

Valdes may have expected to play in a few more games when he arrived at United in the winter transfer window.

However, De Gea’s excellent form meant opportunities to make an impression were far and far between.

Despite often having to settle for a place on the substitute’s bench, Valdes’ attitude has been first-class and he has never complained. The hope for United fans is that De Gea will stay and share the workload with Valdes in the next campaign.
