Nicolas Otamendi and Manchester United is quickly shaping up to become one of this summer’s saga transfers.
Every year, Man United have some players whose link to the club in the window becomes dragged out – Thiago Alcantara and Wesley Sneijder to name some examples.
Now, with the season barely over, Otamendi’s story is taking twists and turns on an almost daily basis.
Earlier this month, reports in Argentina claimed a deal for Otamendi had already been agreed.
Since Monday, his agent has said Otamendi is pushing to leave Valencia this summer which provoked a response from their president Amadeo Salvo who slammed Eugenio Lopez’s comments and called him a liar.
Now, there are contrasting reports everywhere in the press.
On the one hand, Guillem Balague re-iterates that Otamendi will be pushing for a Man United transfer and Valencia are holding out for his €50m release clause.
Latest on Otamendi. Valencia president demand the €50m of his buy out clause. Player wants to go and will push to go to United #sagaAhead

While on the other, The Telegraph’s Mark Ogden insists United aren’t even interested in Otamendi. We’re going round in circles here.
By all accounts, it looks like United have briefed the press but it wouldn’t be the first time they had done that as a smokescreen…
And not sure about Ander Herrera to United stories in Spain. He had been firmly ruled out by United, so any new interest would be a surprise

Three days later, Herrera signed for United.
Will United sign Otamendi or will he stay at Valencia? At this stage it isn’t known but the rumours linking him with United are only going to intensify, even if the club are briefing the press that there is nothing in the rumours.
