Neymar has urged the president of Barcelona to renew Dani Alves’ contract.
Alves has found himself embroiled in a tricky contract situation having been refused a new deal last season with his current deal expiring this summer.
The Brazilian right-back has been of massive importance to Barcelona’s push for a domestic and European treble this season but looks set to depart Barcelona at the end of his contract.
Neymar was asked about his fellow Brazilian’s situation and was in no doubt about what he thinks the right decision is.
He said: “I hope that he stays. If I were president I would renew his contract.”
When pushed for a more definitive answer, Neymar added: “To be more clear? Impossible.”
Dani Alves adds an attacking dimension to the Barcelona squad that most teams in Europe would love to have. He is more solid defensively than he is possibly given credit for and with himself and Messi on the right side of their midfield, they have caused havoc for opponents all season.
United have been linked heavily with Alves and at this point in his career it would make sense for them to pursue it to the end. Alves would solidify the right back position while also giving the entire defense a more solid look.
He would add experience, attacking ability and the added incentive of a free transfer should make the pursuit of the right back a no-brainer.
