The keeper has been heavily linked with a move to Madrid for a number of months now and he is yet to comment on the speculation.
De Gea is said to be keen on a change of scenery after four seasons at Man United and his family are based in Madrid.
United have offered De Gea a new deal along with huge wages but the 24-year-old’s heart is set on Madrid.
The news comes after reports in the Spanish press suggested Iker Casillas is set to leave Madrid and pave the way for De Gea to join.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like there is much more that United can do to persuade De Gea to stay at Old Trafford.
It is hard to begrudge him a move which will take him closer to his loved ones but it would still leave a bitter taste in the mouth. After all, United took De Gea on as a scrawny youngster before making him one of the best keepers in the world.
