Jose Mourinho: I’ll try and get Falcao back to his best at Chelsea

Jose Mourinho has all-but confirmed Radamel Falcao is going to join Chelsea after insisting he wants to help the Colombian get back to his best again in an interview on South American TV.

The striker left Manchester United after Louis van Gaal decided not to extend his loan deal at the club following a very poor season in which he only scored four goals.

Since then, Falcao has been linked heavily with a move to Chelsea and Mourinho’s latest comments certainly indicate that the 29-year-old will be playing in the Premier League next year once again.

“If I can help Falcao reach his level again, I will do it,” Mourinho said.

“It hurts me that people in England think that the real Falcao is the one we saw at Manchester United.”

Let’s get this straight – Falcao doesn’t owe United anything and fans can’t begrudge him if he does want to move to the Premier League champions.

However, fans are perfectly entitled to be frustrated at the thought that Falcao could turn it around next season and start scoring goals which help keep Chelsea above United in the league. That’s where the frustration stems from.

Last year, United took a calculated risk on Falcao and it ultimately didn’t work out. Now it looks like Chelsea are going to be the next club to take a risk on him but at a reduced price and wages, the risk is lessened, not to mention the fact it has now been well over a year since his serious surgery.

Sure, Falcao at Chelsea could end up being nothing to worry about but there is a voice at the back of fans’ heads saying “what if?” which won’t go away.
