Andreas Pereira on verge of U20s World Cup final with Brazil

by Sam Peoples

Andreas Pereira is now just one game away from a place in the 2015 U20s World Cup.

Brazil face Senegal in the semi-final at 16:00 local time today (05:00am on Wednesday morning in the UK) and know that a win will put them into the final.

It will put them on the cusp of winning the U20s World Cup again which is what Brazil did back in 2011 with a team that boasted the likes of Oscar, Philippe Coutinho and Danilo.

Pereira has played a really important role in helping Brazil so far in the tournament. He came on as a half-time substitute against Hungary and subsequently scored a goal from the penalty spot and grabbed an assist in what was a match winning contribution.

In the following games, Pereira scored first in two penalty shoot-outs to help Brazil earn their place in the final.

Regardless of what happens in the semi-final (and potentially the final depending on the result), Pereira will have gained lots of experience from this tournament and will come back to United a better player. That being said, we’ll all be hoping he can come away with a winners medal.

Good luck against Senegal, Andreas!
