Mario Mandzukic’s agent has rubbished claims that Manchester United will move for his client this summer.
Mandzukic signed for Atletico Madrid last year following a successful term at Bayern Munich where he scored 26 goals in 48 appearances.
However, the Croatian had a falling out with Pep Guardiola and left the club in the summer of 2014 to replace Diego Costa at the then La Liga champions Atletico Madrid.
His agent, Ivan Cvjetkovic, has spoken in regards to recent transfer speculation linking him with a move to Man United and he had this to say about his client’s future.
“Mario has only completed the first of his four years at the club so I see no reason why some speak of a possible exit,” Cvjetkovic said.
Mandzukic scores goals wherever he goes but has never stayed at a club longer than two years since he left Dinamo Zagreb in 2010.
With Robin van Persie’s United future hanging in the balance and Radamel Falcao’s departure, Louis van Gaal will look to bring in a striker this summer. Mandzukic’s track record suggests that he would struggle to adjust to a regimented and disciplined manager like Van Gaal.
Mandzukic is a quality player but United may well look elsewhere for a proven goalscorer to spearhead their attacks next season.
