Manchester United transfer roundup – Adnan Januzaj defiant over Old Trafford future

by Ben Topliss

Here is the latest Manchester United transfer news and gossip.

Adnan Januzaj’s agent has rubbished suggestions that the Belgian could leave Man United.

Reports earlier this month had suggested that Januzaj could go out on loan but his agent, Dirk De Vriese, insisted that he wants to stay at Old Trafford in order to become a “club legend”.

It’s refreshing to see such a determined stance from a player when others might have complained. Hopefully Louis van Gaal gives him a chance to impress next season.

Meanwhile, United have been linked with a shock move for Everton’s Romelu Lukaku. Van Gaal is on the lookout for a striker following Radamel Falcao’s departure but there is a question mark over whether or not Lukaku can hack it at the very highest level.

Southampton announced the signing of Sporting Lisbon right-back Cedric Soares on Thursday, with the player widely regarded to be Nathaniel Clyne’s replacement at St Mary’s. United and Liverpool have both been linked with moves for the Englishman but it is not immediately clear where he’ll end up.

Finally, the transfer sagas involving Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin have been rumbling on. The former has been urged to stay in Germany by Franz Beckenbauer while Tottenham Hotspur are still hopeful of signing the latter despite United’s interest.
