Tottenham Hotspur remain hopeful of signing Morgan Schneiderlin despite the fact the Southampton midfielder has said he only wants to sign with a Champions League club, according to the Evening Standard.
The French midfielder has been linked with a move to Manchester United and has reportedly talked up a move to Old Trafford but Spurs remain hopeful that they can convince Schneiderlin to move to London.
A twitter outburst by the player followed by a reported training ground bust-up led many to believe that he would leave Southampton last summer but a transfer never materialised.
Following an excellent season under Ronald Koeman, the player is now more in demand than ever.
Several teams are in need of a midfielder in the mould of Schneiderlin including United, Spurs and Arsenal and it appears as though whoever wants him will face competition for his services.
It remains to be seen what way this transfer saga will go but it is unlikely that Spurs will be able to tempt the player.
With all due respect to Spurs, they aren’t that much of a step up to Southampton. If Schneiderlin really wants to play at the highest level, then he should come to United.
