Rafael Benitez has no intention of selling Real Madrid players before pre-season

Rafael Benitez will assess the worth of several players during Real Madrid’s tour of Australia this summer before considering who he deems surplus to requirements.

The new Real Madrid manager has quite the task to decide who to keep and who to sell this summer with many clubs interested in several of their stars.

Karim Benzema has been linked with a move to Manchester United while Raphael Varane could also be targeted if Valencia sell Nicolas Otamendi to Madrid.

Real Madrid are in talks with David de Gea and the goalkeeper has reportedly offered them a warning to get rid of Iker Casillas if a deal is to be done.

If De Gea sees stalling on Madrid’s side, he might reject their interest and stay at Manchester United where he knows the lie of the land.

Louis van Gaal wants business done quickly this summer but it appears as though Benitez wants more time than Van Gaal would like to afford him.

It makes perfect sense that he’d want to look at his new squad in full before making a judgement and it was something which Van Gaal did last year.

That being said, if it did happen and Van Gaal was keen on signing a Madrid player as part of any De Gea deal, it would complicate that because United want to wrap up their deals early this summer.
