Ryan Giggs: Manchester United must be more consistent next season

by Robbie Dunne

Ryan Giggs believes that Manchester United will have to be more consistent if they are to be successful next season.

Man United struggled in the opening half of Louis van Gaal‘s first season in charge. They started the season by losing to Swansea City before drawing with Sunderland and Burnley and while it improved from there, it was still an inconsistent campaign from the team.

Any sporadic signs of improvement were washed away with draws and losses that destroyed any chance United had of challenging for silverware.

Giggs insisted that United are capable of matching the best teams in the Premier League but admitted that consistency is an area where the club needs to improve.

Speaking about next season, Giggs said: “We’ve had a pretty good start and are back in the Champions League, which is exciting.

“I think we can achieve a lot as we have shown this year we are capable of matching the best teams in the league.

“Now we just have to work on our consistency, and if we get off to a good start next season we can definitely do that.”

United will need to do much better than the ten draws and eight losses that they accumulated over the course of last season.

They ended up six points better off than their nearest top four rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, but United fans will want a push towards their first league title in three years next term.
