Fans’ view: Would Seamus Coleman be a good signing for Manchester United?

by Ben Topliss

Manchester United are considering signing Everton’s Seamus Coleman, according to reports from various outlets over the weekend.

The Irishman had previously been linked with a move to Old Trafford when David Moyes was in charge a couple of years ago but a move never materialised.

Man United’s interest appeared to have cooled but unsuccessful pursuits of players such as Dani Alves and Nathaniel Clyne have led to Coleman’s name being mentioned again.

We asked our Twitter followers for their thoughts on whether or not the right-back would be a good signing:

It is safe to say that Coleman divides opinion. On the one hand, he had an excellent 2013/14 season and his reputation in the Premier League skyrocketed as a result.

However, the player struggled to make a similar impact last term although Everton as a whole were generally poor.

There is also a question mark over whether Coleman could handle himself in the Champions League. If United decide to pass on the 26-year-old then Monaco’s Fabinho could be brought in as an alternative.
