Man United have been strongly linked with a move for Schneiderlin for a number of weeks as Louis van Gaal looks to boost his midfield ahead of the next campaign.
Reports had suggested that the Frenchman would undergo a medical at United on Monday but he put the rumours to bed with an appearance at Southampton’s training ground for the first day of pre-season training.
According to Ogden, Schneiderlin will instead undergo a medical in Manchester by the end of Wednesday before his transfer is officially confirmed.
Arsenal were said to be interested in the 25-year-old but they have since dropped their interest, leaving United unopposed to sign him.
Schneiderlin is exactly the sort of player that van Gaal should be targeting. Composed on the ball with an eye for a killer pass, he will be a more than capable for replacement for Michael Carrick once the 33-year-old retires.
The hope for United fans is that the capture of Schneiderlin sparks a flurry of transfer activity at United, with Bastian Schweinsteiger, Sergio Ramos and Nicolas Otamendi all linked with moves to the club.
