Manchester United fans divided as Everton sign Tom Cleverley

Tom Cleverley has officially joined Everton on a free transfer after his contract with Manchester United expired.

Aston Villa were also interested in Cleverley following his FA Cup heroics last season but Everton have beaten them to the punch.

The Englishman revealed he was impressed by Everton’s squad and that he feels they can return to the top six of the Premier League after a disappointing campaign last term.

Cleverley is also excited to work with Roberto Martinez again after he worked with him for a year on loan at Wigan Athletic during the 2010/11 season. Here’s what fans have had to say about the transfer on social media:

It’s safe to say that opinions on the midfielder are divided. For every fan that feels his move to Everton is a good one, there is another that would suggest the club are making a mistake.

However, the large majority of Man United fans are just relieved he isn’t at Old Trafford anymore.

Cleverley gave his all for United while he was at the club but unfortunately he just wasn’t good enough to start week in, week out.
