Thomas Muller insists he is happy at Bayern Munich despite Manchester United interest

Thomas Muller has insisted he wants to stay at Bayern Munich despite rumoured interest from Manchester United.

Reports from Italy on Wednesday suggested that Man United had made the 25-year-old the subject of a bid worth a total of €160m.

It would be a major coup if United did land Muller but there isn’t really a logical reason for him to leave given the fact that he is Bayern through and through.

The player himself insisted it is an “honour” to be linked with other clubs but that it is “better to ignore speculation.”

“When a transfer request comes in, you automatically deal with it. A request from another big club is an honour and a telling reward that one’s performances are good,” he said.

“But I feel good at Bayern and my deal runs until 2019. It’s better to ignore speculation.”

Bayern are at the very top of world football right now while United are firmly in a period of transition.

A move simply wouldn’t make sense for Muller. Some fans may point to Sergio Ramos as proof that anything can happen in football but his situation is different. The Spaniard has fallen out with the Real Madrid hierarchy and is seeking an improved contract whereas Muller is comfortable in Germany. It is safe to say that he will be staying where he is.
