Fenerbahce confirms Nani set for medical on Sunday

Fenerbahce have confirmed they are in talks with Manchester United and Nani ahead of completing a transfer, pending a successful medical this Sunday.

Nani’s agent has been negotiating a deal for the last two weeks now and it seems the 28-year-old is now closing in on his exit from Man United having been at the club for eight years.

Despite having a good season on loan at Sporting Lisbon last year, it was widely expected that Nani would be leaving United this summer and a deal now doesn’t look too far away from being finalised.

His departure will immediately free £100,000 a week from United’s wage bill which is a significant amount and it streamlines Louis van Gaal‘s squad ahead of the pre-season tour of USA.

Nani was always a player who polarised opinion at United but he will leave some fantastic memories behind.

From bedazzling Arsenal’s defence at the Emirates before chipping Almunia to finishing off one of United’s best ever team goals in the Community Shield against Manchester City, Nani had some beautiful moments at the club but it’s the right time for him to leave.

A step out of the limelight and into a lower league of football in terms of competitiveness will help Nani take centre stage again and he thrived in that situation at Sporting last year.

Nani isn’t expected to be the last departure from United this summer either as the likes of Javier Hernandez, Robin van Persie, Angelo Henriquez and others face uncertain futures.
