Manchester United make €15m bid to sign Matteo Darmian from Torino

Manchester United have made an opening offer for Torino’s Matteo Darmian of €12m plus €3m add-ons.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the offer doesn’t meet Torino’s €20m valuation but says a deal is there to be made.

Nathaniel Clyne and Dani Alves have already resolved their futures this summer, so Man United have had to focus their attention elsewhere.

Darmian, 25, is a right-back who has been linked with multiple clubs including Napoli and United but now it looks like Ed Woodward has made his first move towards signing him.

In most situations, offering lower than a club’s valuation makes sense so as to try and secure a better deal. However, if Torino are only placing a €20m price on Darmian’s head, it would hardly be breaking the bank to simply give the Serie A side what they want and secure a transfer?

With only a couple of weeks until the pre-season tour of USA starts, United are going to have to move fast if new signings are going to be ready in time to be part of the trip.
