Robin van Persie’s agent denies any agreement in place for him to leave Manchester United

Robin van Persie’s agent has denied any agreement for the striker to leave Manchester United is already in place.

Reports from The Guardian this weekend said Van Persie had agreed personal terms with Turkish side Fenerbahce and only an agreement on a fee was needed with Manchester United to finalise the deal.

However, his agent Kees Voss has told Voetbal International the 31-year-old will be reporting for pre-season training as planned on Monday morning and did not allude to any agreement already being in place.

“If Robin had found a new club, we would have announced it,” Voss said.

“All I can say that tomorrow Robin will be back at Manchester United to report for the first training session.”

Man United fans are accustomed to player transfers taking twists and turns and now it looks like the same thing is going to happen with Van Persie.

There are some fans who feel Van Persie should be kept on for another season, while some others believe now is the right time for him to part ways with the club after three seasons in Manchester.

Selling the Dutchman would be a major piece of business for Louis van Gaal this summer and with Radamel Falcao already gone, United would only have Wayne Rooney and James Wilson as senior recognised strikers in the squad.

That’s not enough to compete across all competitions so you have to imagine that if Van Persie does leave the club, Van Gaal will try to bring in a new striker.
