Memphis Depay set to meet new Manchester United team-mates

It seems a long time that Memphis Depay joined Manchester but the wait is almost finally over for fans who are desperate to see him in a Man United shirt

The 21-year-old winger will report to training on Monday morning ahead of United’s pre-season tour away in USA and it will be the first opportunity for him to meet a lost his new team-mates.

Depay has rubbed shoulders with the likes of Robin van Persie and Daley Blind out on international duty with the Neterlands. Now, it is time for him to meet the rest of the squad.

It’s a good place to be for him because he’ll have the comforts of some fellow Dutchman in the team, and Louis van Gaal at the helm, so that will help him settle down quicker at the club.

Juan Mata made plenty of fans immediately after arriving at Man United and there are high hopes about what Depay can bring to the team next season.

For Depay, the quality of his first year at the club all resolves around one thing: confidence.

In the Eredivisie last season, where he finished as the top scorer with 22, Depay showed his quality in front of goal. Now, he’ll have to transfer that to the Premier League and that is no mean feat.

Van Gaal believes in Depay, that’s why he brought him to United, and that excitement has rubbed off onto fans who are keen to see him in action for the first time.

Depay’s debut in a match scenario is likely to be against Club America on 17 July which means he has less than two weeks to really impress Van Gaal and show what he is all about.

Not every foreign import is a success in the Premier League but Depay gives off an aura, he seems different from most players at his age.

He has great self-belief, backed up by his own abilities, and is focused on achieving his goal of becoming the world’s best. It’s a great mindset for any footballer to have.

Depay looks to have all the qualities needed to become one of the world’s best footballers but it’s now up to him to decide whether he truly wants to fulfil his potential. If he does, United fans are in for a great ride.
