Ronald Koeman confirms Manchester United’s only Morgan Schneiderlin bid was rejected two weeks ago

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has confirmed that the club rejected a bid from Manchester United for Morgan Schneiderlin two weeks ago.

Schneiderlin has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for a number of weeks as Louis van Gaal looks to beef up his midfield.

Saints manager Koeman had previously stated that United were yet to make a ‘serious’ offer for the Frenchman so the bid must have been below their valuation of the player.

Koeman stated that there had been no more correspondence between the two clubs following the initial bid.

“Two weeks ago we had a bid from Manchester United and it wasn’t enough. There have been no more bids,” he said.

“I had a meeting with Morgan. We will see what happens in the next few days. Numbers aren’t my business, it’s the club’s.”

A number of United fans are getting impatient about the club’s lack of transfer activity this summer so Koeman’s comments will do little to calm the masses.

United leave for the pre-season tour of the United States of America in a matter of days and van Gaal will be keen to get new faces in to give them the best possible start ahead of the new season. United need to ramp up their interest in potential targets and quickly.
