Manchester United striker Robin van Persie is flying to Turkey ahead of a move to Fenerbahce.

The Dutchman has reportedly fallen out with Louis van Gaal at Man United and he has been told he can leave the club.

Van Persie underwent a medical with Fenerbahce in London on Thursday and he will be officially presented on Monday.

The large majority of United fans will be sad to see van Persie go after he played a pivotal role in the club’s 20th Premier League triumph during Sir Alex Ferguson’s last season in charge.

However, there can be no room for sentiment when it comes to taking United forward.

There is a question mark over whether or not van Persie still has the quality to score goals and United may now look for a younger, more reliable striker instead.

In any case, van Gaal could not guarantee van Persie the game time he wants next season ahead of the European Championships.
