Manchester United close to completing Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger deals

Bastian Schweinsteiger has passed his medical with Manchester United and is expected to sign his contract with the club today.

The 30-year-old midfielder flew into Manchester last night from Munich and now he has successfully completed a medical, he is free to finalise his move to United.

Morgan Schneiderlin has also passed his medical and will join Schweinsteiger as the third signing which United have made in the space of a whirlwind 72 hours for the club.

Louis van Gaal will have been very keen to push through a deal for Schweinsteiger today so that he can fly out with his new United team-mates for this summer’s US pre-season tour and the same can be said for Schneiderlin.

After the signing of Matteo Darmian on Saturday, bringing in both Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger before the pre-season tour begins would be some superb pieces of business from United.

Over the last two years, United have been criticised for their poor approach to the transfer window but with seven weeks still to go, this is already shaping up to be one of the best summer windows the club has had.
