Here is the latest Manchester United transfer news and gossip.

As far as Monday’s go, Man United fans know that yesterday is going to be hard to beat. Within the space of 15 minutes in the afternoon, the club officially announced the signings of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin.

After years of having a poor midfield, United now have the likes of Ander Herrera, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin and Michael Carrick competing for places in the squad. It’s fantastic.

The midfield duo became United’s third and fourth signings of the summer after Matteo Darmian and Memphis Depay but they are not expected to be the last arrival at Old Trafford.

The Telegraph’s Mark Ogden reports that moves are afoot for a new centre-back and striker to also be signed.

Edinson Cavani and Robert Lewandowski are named as potential options for Louis van Gaal up front, while Sergio Ramos and Nicolas Otamendi remain the two names heavily linked with a move to United.

This has been a very busy summer already for United with such a lot of signings but there are still big holes in the squad to fill if Van Gaal is to compete for the Premier League title and Europe next season.

The good thing is that United have shown they are well aware of the problems which face the squad and have already gone some way to solving that. Next up, fans would love to see a new centre-back come in.
