Potential XI: Manchester United vs Club America including all four new signings

by Robbie Dunne

Manchester United begin their pre-season with a game against Mexico’s Club America in Seattle on Friday.

Louis van Gaal brought 26 players on the club’s preseason tour of America with notable omissions including Victor Valdes, Marcos Rojo and Angel di Maria.

The Valdes situation is a peculiar one with no reason being given, as of yet, to his exclusion but Rojo and Di Maria have been given an extended break due to their involvement in the Copa America with Argentina.

It remains to be seen just what formation Van Gaal uses but if history is anything to go by, the Dutchman will surely try to implement a 4-3-3 system given the options he has in midfield and the ability he has in the wide midfield position.

The purpose of the tour is to build fitness for players and Van Gaal will not risk any player he believes is not ready for full contact football.

He will likely give many of the youngsters a run and will make sure that he gets a good opinion of every player before the tour ends and the season starts.

This is possibly his best XI on the tour but whether he choses to go with such an experienced squad remains to be seen.
