Schweinsteiger is a Bayern man through and through having spent 17 years with the German club.
He has won practically everything there is to win with Bayern and the national side and is widely considered to be one of the most gifted midfield players of his generation.
However, Schweinsteiger hasn’t lost his appetite for success and is still keen on winning trophies with United.
“I am very happy to be here and to play for Man United,” he said.
“It is a big honour. It’s a new step in my life. I want to win titles, it’s easy. Manchester United is used to that and I am too, so that’s my goal.”
It would have been easy for Schweinsteiger to wind down his career at Bayern so moving to United to challenge himself is a big testament to his character.
The 30-year-old is steadily becoming a fans’ favourite even though he hasn’t yet kicked a ball for the club. Excitement surrounding the new campaign is reaching fever pitch and fans are bracing themselves for a memorable season under Louis van Gaal.
