Morgan Schneiderlin only played 45 minutes for Manchester United against Club America but he had enough time to show fans exactly what he is all about as a player.
Within the first few minutes, Schneiderlin had opened his goalscoring account for United when he scored with a looping header that nestled into the side netting.
However, the main thing United fans will take away from that first half performance is not the goal that he scored but how much he controlled the game.
Schneiderlin was dominant in the centre of midfield alongside Michael Carrick. He was powerful in the tackle, confident in his passing and showed a real range from short, snappy passes to longer and more expansive ones.
He showed a great desire to get forward when the moment was right and made sure he didn’t neglect from his defensive duties either as he was always straight back into position.
In many ways, he orchestrated United’s play in much the same fashion as Carrick has done in his pomp over the years.
It’s only early doors in pre-season but in his first 45 minutes in a United shirt, Schneiderlin was extremely impressive.
