Louis van Gaal confirms De Gea, Valencia and Lindegaard will miss San Jose games

Louis van Gaal has confirmed David de Gea, Antonio Valencia and Anders Lindegaard will miss the game against San Jose Earthquakes through injuries.

De Gea and Valencia visited the hospital to assess their injuries and although Van Gaal believes they have nothing more than minor injuries, it’s not a risk he wants to take.

Both De Gea and Valencia missed the pre-season’s opening game against Club America and Van Gaal is not prepared to risk aggravating any injury by playing them against San Jose.

“They are minor injuries,” Van Gaal told reporters at his pre-match press conference ahead of the San Jose game.

“They have visited the hospital this morning and that is confirmed. They cannot play against San Jose, I think, but we have to wait and see.”

There is no return date confirmed for any player currently injured for United.

Van Gaal was further pushed on injuries in an interview with MUTV after the press conference and made it clear he was much happier with United’s injury situation this year in comparison to last year.

Injuries plagued United’s whole season in 2014/15 and Van Gaal is keen to have a much better year this time around because it caused so many problems and ultimately affected United’s ability to compete.
