Louis van Gaal has confirmed Manchester United are in the process of looking for a new striker but insisted it is not one which has been mentioned by the media.
A host of strikers including Thomas Muller, Karim Benzema, Robert Lewandowski and Harry Kane have all been linked with moves to Man United this summer.
Following the exit of Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao, there is place for another top class striker at the club but Van Gaal gave nothing away as to who the club were considering signing.
“He is in the process,” he said.
“It’s not the striker the media has written about. You have to wait and see. The transfer period is open until the 1 September so we have to wait.”
When it comes to strikers, United have been linked to almost every one so at this stage it is anybody’s guess as to who United are looking at.
However, that is somewhat irrelevant because all that matters is United are looking at bringing in a fresh face up front. Without a new striker, United will struggle to compete on all fronts but with a top class striker in this current squad, it’s almost complete.
As for Van Gaal’s comments, they tie into Paddy Crerand saying he believed United fans were going to be shocked with a transfer in the next ten days.
This may have been a busy summer for United in the transfer window but our business is far from finished at this stage.
