Manchester City are the frontrunners in the race to sign Valencia’s Nicolas Otamendi, according to SuperDeporte.
Officials from Manchester United and City both reportedly met with Otamendi over the weekend in order to discuss potential moves.
Things are said to be much clearer with City in terms of numbers, while the Argentine is yet to reach an agreement with United.
Otamendi has urged his agent to conclude negotiations before he has to return for pre-season training with Valencia on 26 July.
With the signings of Memphis Depay, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin and Matteo Darmian, it is clear the Dutch manager knows how to improve his squad. However, he still needs a centre-back and a striker to help United challenge on all fronts next season. Otamendi would go a long way to solving the first problem and it would be a shame to see him end up at City.
