Manchester United have already brought in four new players this summer but they are far from finished and Barcelona’s Pedro Rodriguez is a player who may well be calling Old Trafford home next season.
Reports linking the Spanish winger emerged last week and have quickly accelerated to the point where AS in Spain are now saying United are close to signing Pedro.
AS say United are prepared to pay €24m plus €6m add-ons for Pedro, which isn’t bad for a 27-year-old who still has plenty to offer.
With Barcelona’s recently re-elected president Josep Maria Bartomeu flying out to USA this week to join up with their pre-season tour, a decision from Pedro as to whether he wants to leave is expected imminently.
Able to play across all front three positions, the versatile Pedro would fit well into Louis van Gaal‘s philosophy as he is a big fan of ‘multi-functional’ players, but any potential move for him may hinge on the future of Angel di Maria.
Paris St Germain are said to be closing in signing Di Maria one summer after they failed due to Financial Fair Play restrictions and if that’s the case, Van Gaal may simply be replacing the Argentinian winger with Pedro in his squad.
