Louis van Gaal has confirmed some of his starting XI will play 60 minutes in the upcoming pre-season match against Barcelona this weekend.
Manchester United’s previous two matches saw two different XI’s feature in either half but having seen all of his players in action, Van Gaal is now in a position to pick his strongest XI for the contest with the European champions.
De Gea, now back from injury, should take his place in goal behind the same back four that featured in the first half of wins over Club America and San Jose Earthquakes.
Andreas Pereira deserves to occupy that No.10 role after two excellent performances in the second half of each game. The Brazilian has been irresistible so far, especially in the second half against San Jose, which is something Van Gaal would’ve taken note of.
We’re really hoping Depay gets a chance to feature on his favoured left hand side against Luis Enrique’s men. The Dutchman has shown glimpses of brilliance on this tour, and offers something different on the wing to Ashley Young, who disappointed last time out.
