Javier Hernandez joined up with Manchester United’s match-day squad for their game against FC Barcelona.
The striker was given an extended break but having overcome an injury which he suffered earlier this summer, he has now flown out to join up with his team-mates in USA.
Louis van Gaal has already made it clear that Chicharito will be given another chance at Man United to revive his career, much to the surprise of a lot of fans, but United’s boss clearly feels he has something more to offer.
The departures of Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao mean there is far more opportunity for Chicharito at United and unless another striker is brought in to the club, then he’ll get plenty of game time next season if he stays.
It will be very interesting to see what Van Gaal has got planned for Chicharito this season because his style of play is not at all dynamic. Instead, he relies on being lethal inside the box rather than getting involved in the build-up play.
Typically, United’s striker is as much involved in the build-up play as he is with the final shot, so it remains to be seen whether he will use Chicharito in the role he is naturally used to or whether the Mexican will be asked to play a different way.
