Memphis Depay has teased Manchester United fans by posting a picture of him and Romelu Lukaku on his official Instagram account along with the caption “see you soon”.

There has been speculation over who Louis van Gaal‘s ‘surprise signing’ might be, and Memphis’ post has supporters wondering if this is a cryptic message hinting that Lukaku might be on his way to Old Trafford.

The 22-year-old has been a crucial part of Everton’s team over the last two seasons after signing from Chelsea in a £28m deal.

Various names have been banded about Since van Gaal confirmed Man United’s interest in signing another striker and Lukaku certainly would be a surprise.

A young, powerful and dedicated footballer, some supporters may have reservations about his arrival but the Antwerp-born striker would have no problem slotting into van Gaal’s side.

The only question that remains is game time. One of the main reasons Lukaku left Chelsea was to find regular football, and with Wayne Rooney the first name on the team sheet under van Gaal, Lukaku could struggle to make the starting XI.

However, with the United boss keen to add to his firepower up front, Lukaku could prove to be an exciting addition to the squad. And at 22, he is nowhere near his peak.
