Potential XI: Manchester United vs Paris Saint-Germain – Adnan Januzaj starts up top

by Ben Topliss

Adnan Januzaj has made his name on the wing for Manchester United but he enjoyed a superb goalscoring cameo up top against Barcelona last week.

Linking up well with his teammates, Januzaj’s pace proved to be a constant danger for Barcelona’s defence and he capped his 30 minute substitute appearance with a well taken finish.

The Belgian has bulked up over the summer thanks to a specially designed training programme and his extra strength may convince Louis van Gaal that his future lies up front.

This would mean Wayne Rooney may slot back into the no.10 position, giving Memphis Depay some well earned rest:

Elsewhere, Matteo Darmian could remain at right-back despite the fact that Antonio Valencia is now free from injury.

The Italian has been hugely impressive during the pre-season tour and has barely put a foot wrong in a United shirt. Van Gaal insisted earlier this month that he is second-choice to Valencia at the club but he won’t be for much longer if he maintains his good form.
