Real Madrid tell Sergio Ramos he will not be sold to Manchester United

Real Madrid have told Sergio Ramos that he will not be sold to Manchester United this summer, according to the Guardian.

The 29-year-old Spanish international has been the subject of a huge transfer saga this summer, which if completed, would likely see David de Gea move to Madrid in the opposite direction.

Ramos is reportedly unsettled in the capital and unwilling to negotiate a new contract at the Bernabeu.

However, Madrid president Florentino Perez is said to be unwilling to let Ramos leave, and has told the World Cup winner he will not be sold under any circumstances.

The Man United faithful may not be too concerned to hear of this news, as Ramos staying at Madrid means that De Gea will likely spend at least another season in Manchester, something that dramatically increases United’s chances of a successful season.

One thing Louis van Gaal must do, however, is finalise his alternative to Ramos for the centre-back position.

With Daley Blind looking shaky in central defence during United’s pre-season tour, and reports gathering pace of Nicolas Otamendi edging closer to Manchester City, the United hierarchy must act quickly to sort out what was a weak spot for the team last season.
