Goss has impressed at youth level for Man United and was finally handed a taste of senior action in the final few minutes of the match.
Carrick was delighted for Goss and urged him to learn from the experience.
“I love to see the young lads getting a chance and the opportunity for Sean to come away on tour was probably a bonus for him in many ways,” he said.
“So to come away and train, and get that at the end, is great for him and will probably make him even more hungry.”
United have a promising crop of youngsters coming through and a number of them are set for breakthrough campaigns next term.
