Michael Carrick delighted for Sean Goss after he makes senior debut against Paris Saint-Germain

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick admitted he “loved” seeing Sean Goss make his senior debut for the club in the 2-0 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain.

Goss has impressed at youth level for Man United and was finally handed a taste of senior action in the final few minutes of the match.

Fellow youngsters Adnan Januzaj, Memphis Depay, Andreas Pereira and Luke Shaw have also impressed during the pre-season tour of the United States.

Carrick was delighted for Goss and urged him to learn from the experience.

“I love to see the young lads getting a chance and the opportunity for Sean to come away on tour was probably a bonus for him in many ways,” he said.

“So to come away and train, and get that at the end, is great for him and will probably make him even more hungry.”

United have a promising crop of youngsters coming through and a number of them are set for breakthrough campaigns next term.

The club have also been taking care of the prospects back home by handing new professional contracts to Callum Gribbin, RoShaun Williams, Zach Dearnley and Timothy Fosu-Mensah.
