Barcelona president Jose Maria Bartomeu has told ESPN that no approach has yet been made for Pedro.
Amidst heavy speculation that Pedro is on the verge of joining Manchester United, Bartomeu insisted no club had ‘officially’ been in contact with Barcelona.
After Barcelona signed Arda Turan earlier on this summer, rumours have been strife that Pedro is on his way out of the Catalan club, with Man United his preferred destination.
The Spaniard has been linked with United for weeks now and it seems only a matter of time before he leaves the Camp Nou.
However, Bartomeu assured Barcelona fans that he did not expect any changes to the squad before the start of the season.
“The team is what it is,” he said.
“It has been put together. We have the team that our coach wanted — it’s done and completed.”
Bartomeu specifically spoke about Pedro reiterated his stance that no club has moved for the winger yet.
He added: “We don’t foresee any departures from the team. I’ve read many things about a Pedro departure, but no one has officially addressed our club. Our squad is complete.”
Despite the president’s comments, reports continue to say Pedro is close to a move to Old Trafford.
After Louis van Gaal commented on his side’s lack of creativity, Pedro would be the ideal player to bring something different to United’s forward line.
