Barcelona midfielder Pedro is all set to leave the club and join Manchester United, according to reports.

The 28-year-old has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for some time now and a deal is now close to completion.

With Angel Di Maria’s future seemingly in Paris and a deal reportedly agreed between PSG and United, Van Gaal is looking to replace Di Maria with Barcelona winger Pedro.

Rumours are strife in Spain that the Spaniard is moving closer to finalising his move and his friends and family are already aware of the transfer.

Jaime Lorenzo, president of Pedro’s first Spanish club Raqui San Isidro, had much to say regarding the World Cup winner.

“The player was here working at a soccer school a few weeks back and his friends already know he is going,” Lorenzo said.

“And the other day I saw Pedro’s mum in a furniture shop and she told me that he is going to England. I believe it’s a good challenge for him and it means he will get more playing time.”

With both departures and incomings expected at United in the near future, Pedro’s move to Old Trafford now looks like it will be finalised very soon.

Having spoken about the need for speed and creativity in his side, Van Gaal would be delighted to sign Pedro and his versatility in being able to play across the front positions means he’ll give himself the biggest opportunity for more game time, were he to join.
