Manchester United’s David de Gea to start against Tottenham Hotspur – report

by Robbie Dunne

David de Gea is set to start against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend despite speculation linking him with a move away from Manchester United, according to the Sun.

There has been concern raised about the keeper’s willingness to play for Man United but Louis van Gaal believes he gives his side the best chance to win and he will start the season opener on Saturday as a result.

United currently have Sergio Romero and Sam Johnstone waiting in the wings should a starting spot open up at the club but as long as De Gea is under contract, he will remain van Gaal’s No.1.

De Gea has been training at Carrington and looking happy, but there is little doubt that all of the speculation could take it’s toll.

The player left Atletico Madrid when he was just 20-years-old and he reportedly wants to return home to Spain.

Something will have to give soon as the end of the transfer window looms. In just under four weeks, De Gea’s future will be decided but this weekend he should line up in a United shirt.
