Fans’ view: Would you be happy with Harry Kane at Manchester United?

by Tanveer Arayan

The reports surrounding Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and Manchester United had died down in recent weeks following speculation earlier in the summer.

However, rumours were reignited this week when commentators on Spurs’ final pre-season game on Wednesday appeared to let slip that Man United had bid £40m for the striker.

The commentators may have simply been referring to the reports at the start of the transfer window but it got fans talking about whether Kane would be a good fit at Old Trafford.

We asked our Twitter followers for their thoughts on whether or not they’d be happy if United signed Kane:

Kane had a brilliant season last term but paying £40m for him off the back of one good campaign would be a huge gamble.

After all, there have been a number of players over the years who have done the same before fading into obscurity – the likes of Andy Carroll and James Beattie come to mind.

Kane may prove to be the real deal but United cannot afford to take that risk, particularly after the failure of Radamel Falcao at Old Trafford. If Kane keeps up his performance levels, United may make their move next summer.
