Manchester United midfielder Ashley Young is over the moon after signing a new contract with the club.

Young, who has signed a new deal keeping him at Old Trafford until at least 2018, joined Man United in 2011.

Louis Van Gaal seems to have got the best out of the 30-year-old after selecting him ahead of Angel Di Maria for the second half of last season.

Young impressed United fans hugely last year and his stellar performances have been rewarded with a new contract. After putting pen to paper on his new deal, the former Aston Villa man spoke about what it meant to him.

“I am delighted to have signed a new contract. The spirit and motivation amongst this team is very high and we are all determined to make this a season to remember,” he said.

“All I have ever wanted to do is play football and to be able to continue to do that at the biggest club in the world means everything to me and my family.”

The Englishman is slowly turning into a fans’ favourite at Old Trafford. Young’s passion for United has never been in doubt and it is a quality that supporters seem to love.

After establishing himself in the side last year, Young will be hoping to cement his place in the team in the upcoming campaign. He will want to make the left-wing spot his own, despite a lot of competition, before bringing the glory days back to Old Trafford.
